This is a great series, with an wonderful, unforgetable cast of characters. What little cheese there is, is counterbalenced by action and humor. The plot is about a couple of people from this high shcool, and one of them, the main character, finds this sleeping woman/goddess, who informs him of how long she's been waiting and proceeds to freeze time and send him(and some others) to the mystical world of El Hazard. The main guy is a bit of a wus, but thhere is a teacher guy who drinks a lot and is acts like Kaji from Evangelion, and he rules. When they got transported, he was granted this incredible super strength, but the catch is, it only works when he's sober, which is none too often as you may guess. The other guy who gets transported is the absolutly insane, evil school president. This guy is great, his absolutly and complety mad and megalomaniacle. The first thing that the main character and the teacher guy do is save the princess of the land from an attack by a bunch of really big, bug things. She's eternally greatful, and she brings them back to her palce where she explains that her sister has just gone missing, and that by some strange coincidence, the main character guy looks almost exactly like this sister. The alliance of kindoms over which she rules, is currently under attack by a race of insect warriors called (very uncreatively) the Bugrum. The only thing that stops the Bugrum from completely over running the place is this huge orbiting Death Star like satalite weapon of ultimate destruction known as the "eye of God". Anyway, the threat of this thing keeps the Bugrum from launching a massive offensive, but unfortunatly, it requires the union of both pricess sisters to activate it and, well, one of them is missing. So in order to maintain the faith of the alliance, they have to dress, main character dude up as a girl for most of the series, so he can pretend to be the sister. At the palace they also accuire a tagalong, who is this little lesbien girl, who mistook, the main character for the real princess on the frst night of ther stay, and who proceeds to hit on every girl they come across(she is REALLY funny). Eventually they have to go to this mountain shrine and out into the desert to find these three priestess chicks who are the omlyu ones who can take the safety off the eye of god. The priestesses are great, especially, the red haired one, because they've got mad fighting skills. Anyway, the insane guy, who also got transported, ends up running into the bugrum and becoming their co leader, along with their queen(who is also really cool). He has a REALLY funnay, line at one point, where he is getting mad because he found out that the good guys have this "eye of god" weapon: "Eye of God!? What kind of name is that? If had a weapon, I'd at least call it Demon somthing!". So the good guys have some clashes with him, and he ends up getting control of this cool demon chick and there is also this cool underground bunch of illuson using cool people, who are a lot like drow elves, but with blue skin. They're called the shadow tribe and they cause lots of trouble too. Anyway, don't wanna give away too much plot, but belive me, it is WELL worth watching. El Hazard Pics
